On the Way to Sustainability – The Teams
We are serious: That's why Hochland Deutschland GmbH have founded their own sustainability department with two sustainability managers. They both have one objective: They want to achieve responsible action at all levels and in all decisions.
The sustainability managers want to ensure that step by step sustainability becomes part of the company's everyday life, and that a vibrant sustainability culture is created. Therefore they develop concepts and implement ideas.
However, this can only work with strong networking across the whole company. Every Hochland employee should be behind this strategic orientation. We need a "powerful picture of a worthwhile and sustainable future that we all share". That’s what Managing Director Josef Stitzl said during the first sustainability day for employees.
That's why the sustainability managers have gained reinforcement from all areas of the company: purchasing, production, marketing, IT, farming expert, human resources, public relations and the works council. This circle is called "One Earth Team".
Sustainable action and sustainable business ‒ that might sound abstract. The One Earth team has identified concrete fields of action that are important pieces of the puzzle for Hochland's future viability. Starting with your own value chain, for example the raw materials we need every day, and goes to global challenges such as climate protection.
All sustainability activities advance one of these fields of action. Together with the management, the One Earth team is currently working on integrating concrete projects into Hochland’s daily work.
And it is not just the sustainability department that implements them in everyday working life: The topics matter to all members of Hochland.
